Apple Maps launches new 3D map in Washington D.C.

Today, Apple announced a ton of new content and features across its services to honor veterans this Veterans Day.

One of those announcements was a notable update to Apple Maps. The update adds a new 3D map of the capital of the United States and lets users tour the memorials and landmarks without having to travel to the city.

As Apple explains, you can explore the World War II Memorial, Korean War Veterans Memorial, or Vietnam Veterans Memorial in 3D.

In Apple Maps, a new 3D map of Washington, D.C., offers users anywhere in the world a way to explore landmarks and memorials, such as the World War II Memorial, Korean War Veterans Memorial, or Vietnam Veterans Memorial.

In addition to the new 3D map, the National Parks Service has also launched a new guide that showcases U.S. military heritage across the country.

In the US Military Heritage in National Parks guide, the National Park Foundation invites users to explore sites across the US that commemorate and honor the service of veterans, from Minute Man National Historical Park in Concord, Massachusetts, to Rosie the Riveter WWII Home Front National Historical Park in Richmond, California.

The updates to the Apple Maps app are live now and ready for you to explore.

Apple showcased some of this new 3D mapping when it hosted WWDC21 back in June. During a demo of updates to Apple Maps, the company showed off similar 3D landmarks and navigation around San Francisco. With today’s update. It seems certain that the company plans to roll out those features to even more cities over time.
